While Covid-19, is wreaking havoc in most countries, we are relieved and thankful as lately the number of people infecteđ by the virus is decreasing day by day.
The Ministry of Health has released the following information: On the 18th April 2020, there were 54 new infected cases; on the 17th April, 69 cases; on 16th April, 85 cases. The healed cases stood at: 18 April/135; 17 April/201; 16 April/129.
Cases decrease
We have high hopes that the number of new cases of infection will steadily decrease as we progress from day to day. But hope alone is meaningless if we ourselves do not do what is necessary to fight it.
The reason why the Covid-19 infection has decreased in intensity in our minds, are as follows:
Firstly, because there are more people who have understood the true nature of Covid-19 and has therefore abided by the advice and directives given by the government.
This has occurred as the government has tirelessly communicated its advice and directives to the people using all available means to reach the people. This action has produced results.
Perhaps it is also due to the realisation on the part of the people of the existence of the Al-Hadith which has some bearings on the MCO and the Social Distancing i.e: “Whoever are in trials and tribulations but has a refuge, he must take protection in the refuge” (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Hurairah).
Someone asked how he would attain safety, and the Prophet Muhammad SAW replied “Guard your tongue, stay at home, and cry over your sins” (Tirmidzi).
Knowledgeable, dedicated frontliners
Secondly, because Malaysia has a team of frontliners with high knowledge and dedication who would do anything to save the nation and its people.
They are the medical doctors, nurses, and the para medicals under the patronage of the Minister of Health YB Dr Adham Baba who is a well-qualified doctor while the Director General of Health of Malaysia, Dato’ Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah has been cited as one the three best doctors in the world in the war against Covid-19.
Equally important as frontliners are the police and the army divisions which have performed their duties with full dedication in ensuring that the government’s orders are abided by.
We hear sometimes rude words being passed on to the team of doctors, nurses, police and army personnels by those whom we must regard as uncivilised.
Fortunately our frontliners have been trained with the highest level of professionalism. YB Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the Chief of the Security cluster has demonstrated an outstanding effort and efficiency in the war against Covid-19.
Sincere prayer
Thirdly, it must have been also our prayers to God Almighty to help us. The YAB Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has also been saying his prayers for the nation every day and this could be heard by all of us.
God Almighty must have heard our prayers, must have seen our efforts to get ourselves rid of Covid-19 and must have Granted our prayers. After all, God Almighty has decreed “Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors” (Al-A’raf:55), “And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you” (Al-Mu’min:60).
We are confident that if everyone were to abide by the directives given by the government, we shall be victorious in vanquishing Covid-19 not long from now. After all, God Almighty has decreed “…Allah will bring about, after hardship, ease” (Ath-Thalaq: 7), Insha Allah.
